Electronic scoreboards and massive video displays manufacturer Daktronics says it has improved collaboration among its design teams since going live with PTC’s Product Development System (PDS).
Brian Vogl, Daktronics’ engineering design applications manager, says that the company has integrated the system with its MRP system, and that, too, is accelerating successful new product introductions through production.
He says that discontinuities across the concept-design-manufacturing continuum often hamper any organisation’s ability to innovate and maximise manufacturing capacity. Hence Daktronics’ recent expansion of its implementation to include Windchill, PTC’s web-based content and PLM (product lifecycle management) system to improve data sharing of Pro/Engineer files.
Vogl claims that the system is also enhancing collaboration across development teams, as well as improving better version control and change management.
“We pride ourselves on the ability to develop and deliver high quality displays that communicate with millions of people every day around the world,” says Vogl. “We are using the PTC PDS because its broad capabilities and flexibility let our engineers design to customer needs.
“It is helping us achieve our vision to increase manufacturing capacity and deliver more products to market without sacrificing product quality and customer satisfaction.”
