3D CAD/CAM specialist Delcam, which recently acquired footwear CAD/CAM software firm Crispin Systems, now expects serious additional growth in this key market.
The company reports strong sales in the Far East, with existing customers expanding their use of technology and opening large new factories.
Crispin has a 20-year history of providing software for design and production of lasts, uppers and soles, and last year added a range of systems for orthopaedic applications.
“The addition of Crispin to the Delcam group will give us much higher visibility and an even larger number of customers – around 2,000 in total – in the footwear industry, in particular reinforcing our position in the sports shoe sector.” says Delcam’s managing director Hugh Humphreys.
Crispin’s range covers the key stages in footwear product development, including: capture of CAD data for lasts from physical models; creation of 3D shoe designs to advertising quality; and production of 2D patterns.
