Dimensions Clothing gets measure of product development with Infor PLM

Corporate wear manufacturer Dimensions Clothing says it has successfully deployed Infor PLM (product lifecycle management) to streamline development and support ambitious growth plans.

The system went live in February for 25 users, after a 10-month implementation and Derek Boyden, Dimensions technical director, says it will help manage thousands of clothing patterns for more than 1 million products each month. Dimensions' previous solution was a modified Freeboarders system, from Lawson Software, as well as spreadsheets that, Boyden says, could not keep pace with increasing customer demand. In view of its expansion plans, he says Dimensions needed a solution that could manage the lifecycle of all products across the world in an accurate and consistent fashion. And he adds that it needed to facilitate high quality standards and innovation, and ensure rapid time to market. "In order to ensure strong business growth while maintaining rigorous customer service standards, it was imperative that the solution could support our entire product lifecycle management, integrating design and engineering with sourcing and the supply chain – ensuring compliance and facilitating fast, high quality product development," says Boyden. "Through using Infor PLM, we expect to achieve greater consistency and economies of scale as well as realise significant efficiencies," he adds.
