DuPont has certified GE Fanuc Automation’s Proficy MES (manufacturing execution system) a ‘solution-of-choice’ for production management in its complex manufacturing sites worldwide.
The announcement comes just as GE Fanuc is extending its push into the automotive, pharmaceutical, food and beverage and consumer packaged goods industries by partnering with system integrator Wipro Technologies.
DuPont’s Process Information Management (PIM) team, part of the DuPont Engineering and IT organisations, evaluated the system, along with its Safety and Protection project teams.
“DuPont evaluated products that would enable us to globally strengthen our manufacturing and operations competitiveness,” says Salvatore Grasso, corporate process owner, manufacturing for DuPont Information Technology & Services. “We selected the GE Proficy application suite as the preferred MES for complex, discrete manufacturing processes.”
Proficy provides for the whole spread of operational production management requirements, from efficiency management, through quality management, to production management and plant-wide reporting and analytics.
Meanwhile, Wipro will be working with GE Fanuc to help manufacturers integrate their production management and ERP systems in its chosen sectors.
Says Sudip Banerjee, president, enterprise solutions for Wipro Technologies: “The manufacturing operations of these industries present large scale implementation challenges that are well-served by this arrangement.”
And Ed Martin, chief marketing officer for GE Fanuc Automation, adds: “This is a significant step towards increasing reach as well as establishing complementary expertise in execution. Wipro Technologies is a respected provider of implementation services in production management.”
