Early warning system arrives for network problems
IT support tools developer HoundDog Technology believes it has something for every IT manager’s Christmas stocking – a Bandwidth Monitoring Check, designed to provide an early indicator of potentially crippling network problems.
The device, it says, monitors any physical or virtual network interface on an SNMP-enabled device – switches, routers, printers or servers – and alerts the support company when bandwidth constraints are affecting its clients’ business.
The Bandwidth Monitoring agent sits on HoundDog’s web-based dashboard – adding to its proactive alerting around issues relating to disk space, backup, failed RAID disks, website downtime, AV updates and so on.
“Bandwidth monitoring is very easy to set up,” explains HoundDog Technology CEO Doug Wilson. “Upon entering the IP address of the devices to be monitored, support companies can begin receiving alerts in just a few seconds if their clients are maxing out their bandwidth use.”
