Edbro , hydraulic truck tipping hoist manufacturer, has launched a high voltage alert system designed to protect drivers from striking power lines.
The system emits audio and visual warnings to drivers when they are dangerously close to hitting electricity cables.
Potential clashes will trigger a high intensity red flashing LED and an 85 decibel high pitched buzzer, Edbro said.
The device will detect high voltage electricity at up to 100m according to the company.
The technology employs a detection antenna mounted within the chassis cab, which is connected to an in-cab warning device, Edbro said.
The device can be fitted to new or existing vehicles, the firm stated.
Paul Smith, Edbro sales and marketing director, said: "The high voltage alert will detect power cables that may not be visible from the cab and reduce the likelihood of lethal accidents caused by power cable contact."
