Manufacturing bosses have again raised their voices against right wing Euro-sceptics by underlining the importance of Britain "being a strong and active participant in the European Union" ahead of the G8 Summit.
EEF chief executive Terry Scuoler said,:"British influence in driving forward a EU-US agreement on trade and investment could offer large gains on both sides of the Atlantic highlights the importance of being a strong and active participant in the European Union. It must be an ambitious agreement that includes areas that were previously off limits.
On the recent furore over corporate tax avoidance, Scuoler also urged that the UK should stick with an international approach to address concerns about the tax positions of multinational companies. He continued: "While we have seen a media storm building on this issue, we must be clear that cooperation is the answer and attempts to restore public confidence must not come at the cost of damaging confidence in the UK as a place to invest and grow."
The G8 summit takes place in County Fermanagh on 17 and 18 June.
