Job satisfaction among engineering professionals is high, with more than two thirds (69%) of those polled in a survey from Reed Engineering reporting they were satisfied or very satisfied in their current role.
The majority of engineering professionals (87%) considered their current role to be secure and the sense of workforce stability was higher than the national average for all sectors with 92% of engineering professionals with management responsibility describing their workforce as stable or very stable.
Almost two thirds (62%) of managers in the engineering sector are worried about losing talented individuals and 37% report a skills gap in their organisation.
Salaries are highest in London and the Midlands with manufacturing production managers reporting earnings of £45,000 to £65,000.
Reed Engineering said: "For skilled candidates, the outlook in engineering is bright and our figures show that more than a third (36%) of employees will be looking for new opportunities in the year ahead. For employers, this means retention strategies are as important as attracting new people."
