Epicor developments reach for aerospace and automotive markets

Mid-market ERP software developer Epicor has introduced new features and functionality and specific versions of its Vantage suite aimed at both the automotive and the aerospace and defence sectors.

Epicor for Aerospace and Defence now includes enhanced project management and EDI as well as improved supply chain management capabilities and advanced business process management (BPM). Specifically, Epicor has added support for multi-level work breakdown structures (WBS) on the manufacturing side, enabling users to track and cost project phases and allow material costs and inventory to be associated accordingly. Then extended EDI is delivered through an alliance with TIE Commerce Software, which simplifies data sharing by enabling data exchange in any format. And as for BPM functionality, kit’s about providing a wizard-driven interface so that business users can assign rules for transaction handling that build in responsiveness and agility. Finally, for demand management the system now enables manufacturers to plan, forecast and execute, managing long-term JIT and handling everything down to reconciliation of cumulative records for customer releases. And it’s a similar picture on the automotive side, with new facilities to support the complex engineering and make-to-order environment, with embedded CRM (customer relationship management), APS (advanced planning and scheduling) and MES (manufacturing execution system) functionality, along with out-of-the-box connectivity for supplier and customer collaboration – as well as the BPM and EDI pieces above. . Epicor has some 150 aerospace and defence clients, and 240 automotive manufacturing companies to date.
