Manufacturing and distribution ERP software firm Epicor will support Microsoft SQL Server Denali, the cloud-ready platform claiming to offer enterprise visibility and lowest total cost of ownership.
The company made its announcement at the 2011 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, and says that it now plans to enhance its EPM (enterprise performance management) software by taking advantage of the new release's improved performance, availability and security, through in-memory computing.
Hakan Ebersjo, director of product marketing for Epicor, explains that users will have access to its productive management and development tools, and get next-generation ad hoc business intelligence data analysis – leading to "pervasive insights" for business users.
"Microsoft's new in-memory computing capabilities will afford much faster data analysis and easier navigation for customers leveraging Epicor EPM solutions," enthuses Ebersjo.
"The highly interactive, web-based user interface offers clever reporting and analytics navigation that builds up data graphically on the fly, while Microsoft's PowerPivot add-in, with advanced analytic capabilities, will enable users to plough through a mass of data in a familiar format at much faster speeds," he explains.
"Business executives and information workers in organisations that use the next release of the Epicor EPM solution with SQL Server code name 'Denali' will be able to leverage the data residing in their ERP system faster and in more interactive ways." confirms Herain Oberoi, Microsoft's director for SQL Server BI product management.
Epicor unveiled its Smarter Business Intelligence initiative at its user conference last October, previewing plans to harness the advanced analytic and cloud computing technologies offered by Microsoft. The organisation now expects Denali to make delivery even easier to manage and tailor.
Ebersjo says that, with Epicor EPM at the core of Smarter BI, it's all about making business insight easier to find, share and understand, using EPM's prepackaged industry analytics plus Denali and Microsoft SharePoint.
