BM Catalysts, a Mansfield-based manufacturer of catalytic converters and pre-cat front pipes has completed the purchase of a new 60,000 sq ft manufacturing facility as part of a £6 million expansion project that will create 45 new jobs.

Marketing director Mark Blinston said the acquisition of this site was part of the company's continued growth and was a strategic move to further develop its manufacturing capabilities in the UK. "In our opinion, there has never been a better time to expand and we now look forward to getting the new site fully operational." BM Catalysts, a trading division of Belton Massey Limited, was formed in 1966 and originally known as B & M Tyres and Exhausts Limited. The business started out operating fitting stations in the Midlands, before beginning hand bending catalytic converters in 1998. The new facility, funded with the help of a grant from East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and funding from NatWest, will, said B M Catalysts, enable the retention of its full manufacturing process in-house, allowing it to grow domestic markets and expand into Europe. The company, which currently produces an average of 2,000 parts a day, has a dedicated part development team and already provides employment for 165 people. The company received a Grant for Business Investment of £550,000 from emda to support its expansion plans.
