Express planning and scheduling software sees success

Several hundred manufacturers have now downloaded and activated Preactor's free entry-level APS solution, Preactor Express, launched in September last year, according to the company.

Mike Novels, CEO of Preactor International, says the message that manufactures no longer need to settle for basic spreadsheet scheduling seems to be getting through. "We are delighted but not surprised by the tremendous response. It confirms our decision to make our proven technology available free of charge to smaller companies historically struggling to manage their production with spreadsheets or out-dated planning applications," he comments. Novels believes that smaller manufacturers face significant challenges but also opportunities as the business climate improves post-recession. But he says: "The reality is that, without appropriate planning and scheduling tools, some won't thrive as they otherwise might, while others won't survive at all. Preactor Express gives these manufacturers the best possible chance to gain agility, visibility and competitive advantage." And he adds that, as these organisations grow, and find themselves needing to do more than backwards and forwards sequencing, with primary finite resources – for example, recognising secondary and linked finite resources, and integrating with their ERP system, they can upgrade to Preactor 200 "for a small fee". As Novels puts it: "Now every company, irrespective of size or budget, can discover for themselves, the benefits that [APS] can deliver."
