Fords Packaging Systems invests future in collaborative CAD
Kempston-based capping and sealing machinery builder Fords Packaging Systems has added CoCreate OneSpace Modelling and OneSpace Model Manager BoM add on-to its existing OneSpace collaborative CAD engineering suite.
“We expect OneSpace Modeling to improve our design processes, produce more accurate designs and, in turn, cut errors that can occur before machine production,” says Fords managing director Peter Smith:
“We design the machine using packaging specifications given to us by our customer,” he explains. “Very often, changes are made to the packaging, necessitating machine design adjustments. So we have to respond to these changes at any time in the development cycle.”
With OneSpace Modelling, designers can make late changes, and then create virtual models so customers can see the product before Fords produces the machine. That advantage is then compounded by the data management under OneSpace Model Manager – specifically including its BoM (bill of materials) functionality.
