Forklift truck manufacturer Jungheinrich has extended its contract with logistics firm Nightfreight for a further three years.
As part of the new deal, Nightfreight will manage the entire inbound supply chain of new trucks to the UK from Jungheinrich's manufacturing plants in Germany, in a move designed to improve tracking and visibility through the supply chain from factory to customer delivery.
Nightfreight is already responsible for operating all UK distribution for the truck manufacturer, providing on-site contract management and support, product checks and low level rectification of damage, and delivery and collection of used equipment for short-term hire in the UK.
Steve Clarke, purchasing and logistics manager at Jungheinrich, said: "Over the past three years, Nightfreight has played a valuable role within our business. Their transport solution has helped us deliver a first-class service to our customers. Nightfreight's activity has been extended to take control of the complete supply chain.
He added: "Nightfreight has shown a willingness and ability to adapt to changes within our business and we see this co-operation developing further over the life of the new contract."
Ian Smith, chief operating officer at Nightfreight, said: "We have proven that Nightfreight is a trusted partner who can provide support during periods of change and in challenging trading conditions. Providing an end to end logistics solution from Jungheinrich's manufacturing plants is a logical next step following our successful UK contract operation."
