Foundry casts gloom aside

Long-established foundry and engineering business Chamberlin is beating the economic gloom, it told shareholders today.

The company, founded in Walsall in 1890, provides specialised castings and safety/security products to a wide variety of worldwide industries. At its annual meeting today (28 July) chairman Tom Brown confirmed that trading in the current year was progressing as planned, despite the wide spread economic gloom. “The business has, so far, been able to pass on significant increases in input costs, particularly for raw materials and energy, although these have increased working capital,” he said. “Present order books match management expectations, and although further cost pressure is likely, the directors currently anticipate a full year result in line with market expectations.”
