From top to bottom – bottle top maker has new industrial floor

A project to replace an industrial floor at Glasgow-based bottle top manufacturer Guala Closures has been completed ahead of schedule. Guala, which makes non-refillable and aluminium bottle closures, needed new flooring for the assembly area and picked Flowcrete's Flowshield SL, a self-levelling floor which can handle heavy traffic. The epoxy resin flooring is ideal for production areas, and was supplied to Guala in a bright clipper blue colour.
David Paterson, technical manager at Guala Closures, said: "A number of different floor types were looked at, including vinyl, but I visited a factory where exactly the same Flowcrete floor had been installed in stages over a number of years and it all still looked good.
"We chose the bright blue colour, which had also been used at the factory we viewed, because it gave the area a clean look. "All our employees have been impressed and we are really pleased with the floor."
Greg Love, MD of Flowcrete approved contractor Industrial Floor Treatments, said: "There was a strict two-week window for the work during a factory shutdown so there would be no production loss to the client.
"There was existing vinyl and latex flooring to be uplifted before we could start, and then the base had to fully prepared before the Flowshield SL could be installed.
"The target had to be achieved for the client to be back in production without any delays – and the project was completed in 11 days."
