Fruit-based products and ingredients manufacturer Tree Top says it expects to lower production costs when it goes live with CDC Factory downtime analysis software.

Berry Wright, vice president of operations at Tree Top, says the new manufacturing operations management (MOM) and manufacturing intelligence solution will be implemented at all five of its plants in the State of Washington. He explains that the grower-owned cooperative, which makes apple juice, cider, blended juices and purees, plans to complete the first implementation of CDC Factory at its plant in Selah, Washington before September, when the most-active part of Tree Top's seasonal production begins. "After an extensive selection process, we chose CDC Factory to help accomplish our strategic initiatives to help lower production costs," says Wright. "In our highly competitive business, now more than ever we must improve plant performance for the benefit of our 1,200 growers. CDC Factory is an out-of-the-box solution, with packaged performance outputs and improvement techniques, which we expect will enable us to see positive results on our performance within weeks." He says that with CDC Factory's real-time metrics, such as OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) and cost per unit at the plant, line and SKU levels, Tree Top plans to reduce its baseline costs and improve margins.
