Fujifilm has launched a £3 million digital ink manufacturing facility at its Best Factory Award-winning plant in Broadstairs, Kent.
The investment by the Japanese-owned photography giant reflected the rising standards of UK manufacturing, said plant chief Colin Boughton.
The operations director said: "The expansion shows that where the latest technology, intellectual property and know how are fundamental to success, the UK is the place to be for this type of manufacturing."
The 1,800m2 facility has been built to meet soaring demand for digital inks, Boughton added.
Orders for traditional analogue screen products are projected to decline to 28% 2017, Fujifilm confirmed.
Boughton added: "We are now firmly a digital inkjet company with an analogue heritage."
This growth has also triggered a £2.1 million investment in Fujifilm's research and development department.
Fujifilm, Broadstairs won the Best Process Plant category at the 2011 BFA Awards.
