Connection have been based at their Dogley Mills home in Huddersfield since their founding in 1997 but after 25 years at the facility required a substantially larger space with the intent to double both manufacturing capacity and turnover.
Located in Mirfield, Huddersfield, the new 45,000 sq ft facility, will house a state-of-the-art design and upholstery facility as well as an advanced manufacturing line.
Operations director, Andy Brook, said, “We have a highly skilled workforce and we wanted to ensure we retained that talent and knowledge, so it was important for us to stay within the Kirklees region to harness that talent, create new jobs and continue our portfolio expansion plans. The new facility will allow us the opportunity to furnish our production space with a new suite of equipment, allowing us to further boost capacity across manufacturing lines. We will upgrade to state-of-the-art bar-coding systems and introduce further efficiencies in the packaging stages of production with a big emphasis on the environment and reducing cardboard waste”
The new facility will give Connection the capacity to meet the increasing demand coming from both the UK markets and global export, particularly a recent swell in interest from Europe and the Middle East.
Managing Director, Kelvin Bromley, said, “Over the last few years we have seen demand for agile commercial furniture soar, and we knew that we were fast approaching the time where we needed to move to a larger facility. When the UK entered lockdown last year, this demand accelerated even more rapidly, as many businesses introduced new methods of working and wanted to adapt their spaces to facilitate this. Moving to the new site will really help propel Connection forwards and ensure we can meet the ever-increasing demands of our customers here within the UK and internationally. We are now ideally placed to take the next step in our growth journey ensuring we remain at the forefront of the commercial furniture industry”.
