Global infrastructure projects gets Triumph motoring

Triumph Motorcycles says it has been able to improve manufacturing and supply chain efficiency, thanks to its new global IT infrastructure.

IT manager Kevin Rookes explains that the infrastructure is critical for operations, which span production plants and almost a thousand dealers, from Bangkok to Madrid. Hence the challenge, which saw comms equipment ordered from UK vendors and configured by solutions partner Convergence Group, before being relocated for installation at locations across the world. The system now connects Triumph's supply chain to its central back office systems in Hinckley via a dedicated fibre-based MPLS WAN. Rookes says Convergence was selected because of its track record, commitment to clients and 24 x 7 global support package. "The new system, being interoperable in over 10 international locations, had to be efficient and responsive to our needs. We had to be sure the business could depend on it and optimise the infrastructure globally. "One of the pleasing results that Convergence has delivered is that we now have efficient manufacturing systems across three factories in Thailand that can communicate directly with the UK. "Triumph globally now has a network that is not only far superior to the previous infrastructure; it represents substantial costs savings, while at the same time enhancing performance, consistency and reliability."
