Previously, the system was sold only by Syscom, which developed much of the add-on functionality. Karen Engel, Great Plans product manager, says the system is aimed at SMEs, particularly in high tech manufacturing, life sciences and automotive suppliers. “It’s for users that need a more out-of-the-box system,” she says. Nevertheless, Great Plains does now include a range of manufacturing functionality, including MRP, BoMs, sales configurator, job costing, engineering change management, QA and sales forecasting – and Microsoft’s CRM. Syscom managing director John Moses says: ” Many of our clients have found that the manufacturing elements of Great Plains have given them a tighter grip on their stock and manufacturing costs, thus improving customer service beyond all expectations.”
