The development is set to grow its capacity, secure jobs, and create new employment.
Hedley Planning Services has submitted the hybrid planning application on behalf of Organon Pharma UK, which has a portfolio of therapies and products in women's health and biosimilars.
Its base on Shotton Lane, within the Windmill Industrial Estate, is a key manufacturing, research, and distribution hub specialising in oral solid doses.
Under the plans, which have been submitted to Northumberland County Council, the car park would be relocated, with a service road erected.
A 75,347 sq ft packing hall would also be created, housing eight packing lines which would be "strategically placed to optimise workflow". Additional plans include an amenity hub alongside a distribution warehouse with dock levellers and enlarged car parking.
A planning statement submitted with the plans said that many of the current facilities at the site are "outdated and inefficient", adding: "The investment in processing, packaging, warehousing and staff facilities will allow additional production to be brought 'in-house' and help secure the existing 650 jobs long term."
An additional 17 posts would be created.
"Organon's business plan necessitates additional packing lines to accommodate growth and regulatory compliance. The new proposal aims to increase capacity with a purpose-built packing hall, to best use the limited space within the site", the report concluded.
