Heineken was highly-commended in the category last year and has gone one better this year, with judges praising the company’s ‘Perfect Forklift Experience' at the Cider Mills site. The safety programme includes instructional videos accessed by QR codes and other innovative ideas.
The whole system, which includes easy access with an attempt to engage workers with basic literacy levels, was implemented for less than £60, Heineken claimed. Implementation has seen workplace incidents fall by 95% and the scheme rolled out across other global Heineken sites.
Peter Harvey, FLTA chief executive, said: “Heineken has proved itself very worthy winners of the Safe Site Award. Despite coming highly commended in the 2015 Awards, they didn’t rest on their laurels – they let it drive them to work even harder. Their efforts are truly admirable and will hopefully inspire other companies to follow their sterling example.”
