HMG Paints- a Manchester based surface coatings manufacturer- has won a £1.2million Regional Growth Fund grant towards a factory extension.
HMG Paints plans to use the cash to build a 10,000 sq ft facility for the production of high performance waterbourne coatings.
The extension will double production capacity at the Collyhurst site and safeguard 150 jobs according to HMG Paints.
HMG, managing director, John Falder, said: "This means we can put in place our plans for a technically sophisticated and dedicated waterborne coatings production department, which will be amongst the best in the industry."
HMG Paints is among 119 companies who have so far secured a Regional Growth Fund award. The fund aims to support private sector enterprise with significant potential for economic growth according to the government.
The HMG project could lead to 50 new local jobs within 5 years according to the manufacturer.
Falder added: "It seems that our bid must have satisfied the assessment criteria with regard to sustainable economic activity, as well as the creation and safeguarding of employment at this site. We have an outstanding relationship with our local communities and initiatives like this mean we can continue supporting the local economy and labour pool."
HMG's water based paint systems are used in the commercial vehicle, bus, rail and coach industries.
