The water board applied Loctite's advanced protective coatings, which the board claims helped increase hydraulic efficiency by 5.35%, leading to annual energy savings of 600,300 kWh and an estimated 480-ton reduction in CO₂ emissions.
Hydraulic Efficiency Improvement
Water pump efficiency declines over time due to corrosion and surface deterioration, which is why many companies invest in protective coatings for their operations. The water board reported that the coatings by Loctite generated a smoother, low-friction surface on the pump system, minimizing energy loss.
Protective Coating Benefits
The coatings created a protective barrier against erosion and chemical wear, reducing further deterioration and extending the lifespan of the equipment. Bob Orme, senior application engineer at Loctite, said: "This project demonstrates how Loctite solutions not only protect equipment but also deliver significant cost savings and environmental benefits."
Loctite’s Range of Coatings
LOCTITE offers a range of epoxy and ceramic-reinforced coatings designed to enhance efficiency and durability in water pump systems. These include:
- LOCTITE PC 7337 – A hybrid epoxy with oleophobic properties for high-abrasion resistance and long-term protection.
- LOCTITE PC 7255 – A sprayable ceramic-reinforced epoxy coating designed for a smooth, durable finish that enhances hydraulic performance.
- LOCTITE PC 7227 – A brushable ceramic epoxy that provides resistance against wear and corrosion while ensuring easy application.
