IBM’s provision of packaged product lifecycle management (PLM) services has ramped up a significant notch now that the firm has completed its acquisition of EADS Matra Datavision.
IBM’s new PLM services unit, part of its Business Consulting Services, will now have more than 1,000 staff covering key sectors including automotive, aerospace and defence, electrical and electronics and machinery. It also gains consultants, as well as expertise around PLM modules of several of the ISVs.
Cosme de Moucheron, vice president, IBM PLM in Europe is to head the team, made up of IBM and former EADS Matra Datavision staff. He says: “IBM’s vision for clients is to help them transform into on-demand businesses – helping them to become more highly responsive, focused, resilient and variable in ever-changing marketplaces.”
And with the IBM Dassault Systemes Enovia PLM and SmarTeam collaborative engineering systems, as well as the SolidWorks PLM offering (also through SmarTeam), plus IBM PLM’s coverage now of other PLM software vendors with consulting, implementation and integration services, this is a good place to start.
