Today's IT is in need of an intelligence makeover, according to IBM in a podcast featured on the Building a Smarter Planet blog.
With billions of objects being infused with technology – in the form of barcodes and RFID – the amount of data captured around the world is set to increase ten-fold in just three years, according to analyst IDC.
Yet, says IBM, the world's technology systems are not configured to deal with this exponentially increase in a way that is affordable, energy efficient, or flexible.
Such issues are the focus of its podcast discussion, which features James Governor, cofounder of analyst Redmonk, Frank Gens, senior vice president and chief analyst with IDC, Bernie Meyerson, CTO of IBM's Systems and Technology Group, and Donna Dillenberger with IBM Research.
