Scandinavian manufacturing ERP software developer IFS and enterprise broadband giant NEC have launched an extension to the former's flagship IFS Applications initially for the Thai food and beverage industry.
The ERP extension is the result of a joint project involving both companies and can be implemented as an NEC cloud computing service or as a standard on-premise server solution.
Jan Brunæs, president of IFS Asia Pacific, says that the extension has been developed to meet the growing demands from, for example, dairies and meat processing plants, which need to plan and produce products, co-products and by-products from one raw material in a single process.
He explains that the new solution is available as an extension of IFS Applications 7.5 SP5, and adds that, in due course, it will also be launched in other Asian markets.
"Our long-standing partnership [with NEC] makes us well-positioned to succeed in this dynamic market. We are working together towards extended functionality within the industry in order to address all customers within the sector," comments Brunæs.
And Fumiyasu Hirano, vice president and general manager at NEC, adds: "As the extension will be available as either a server solution, or as a NEC cloud computing service, customers will be able to choose their own technological and financial solution for their investment."
