ERP giant Infor says it is offering customers on maintenance a "groundbreaking programme" aimed at simplifying adoption of its latest software innovations.
Infor chairman & CEO Jim Schaper explains that Infor Flex – basically a package of software, services and financing – gives customers "compelling, low-risk options to upgrade to the latest version of their existing Infor products, or exchange to another Infor product, on a like-for-like basis".
"Infor Flex is about delivering value together with innovation, rewarding customers for their loyalty, and giving them ultimate choice and control over the future of their software," says Schaper.
"Infor is setting the new standard in the vendor-customer relationship – allowing customers to flexibly advance their software capabilities without disrupting their business or abandoning existing investments. Our goal is to be their vendor of choice for a lifetime," he adds.
How does it work? Essentially, Infor Flex minimises license and/or transaction fees for users on support, while offering benefits, such as reduced-fees for fast implementations and what the firm describes as "incentive pricing" on additional users, modules or complementary solutions.
It's all about making it easier for Infor customers to take up Infor's new goodies, enabled through its carefully architected SOA (service-oriented architecture) and Infor Open SOA framework.
Schaper cites Infor MyDay and makes the point that for many of its new component applications, customers on maintenance are entitled to dive and use them at no additional charge.
He also makes the point that at a time when many IT budgets are flat or decreasing, Infor Flex will be a welcome relief – enabling users to upgrade their software and position themselves for business agility when the economy rebounds.
