New software services from Infor are aimed at easing cross-application workflow and reporting to the extent that the company claims it is "giving mid-market companies benefits once reserved only for the largest corporations".
The new deal is Infor ION, a bunch of services that simplifies application integration, business process management and shared data reporting.
Soma Somasundaram, senior vice president of global product development at Infor, makes the point that traditionally such services have involved complex and high-cost middleware implementations.
By automating the most difficult data sharing tasks, he says, Infor ION gives mid-market companies the ability to "more quickly and easily organise, analyse and collaborate on information throughout their operations".
Four services are planned for release in the fourth quarter of 2010: ION Desk, providing a browser-based interface to configure all other services; ION Connect for document-based communication and secure data sharing; ION Event Management, which monitors the status of tasks against SLAs and provides alerts, and ION Workflow, covering multiple Infor and non-Infor applications.
"With this unprecedented simplicity of business document exchange, companies of all sizes will now have a better way to build and use business intelligence from across their entire operations, faster and more cost-effectively than ever before," comments Somasundaram.
