InForce promises 360 degree view of customer data

Manufacturing ERP conglomerate Infor will start delivering three versions of Salesforce.com's Force.com software – the firm's so-called social enterprise platform – later this year.

The announcement follows Salesforce.com's investment in Infor, and means that the former's cloud-based CRM and sales force software are now available to bring back office data to the front office and elsewhere, using social media. Infor CEO Charles Phillips says that his organisation will build and deliver InForce Everywhere – a native Force.com application designed to bring Infor ERP data into Salesforce. The other two applications are InForce Order Management (a quote, order and proposal management application) and InForce Marketing, which builds on Infor's existing CRM Epiphany, for marketing automation. "Sales professionals in Infor's large manufacturing customer base need fast and easy access to the product and order data in our applications, and we will render that rich data in Salesforce," explains Phillips. "This partnership will help customers focus on building and selling great products instead of configuring databases, middleware, BI [business intelligence] tools or disk drives," he continues. "Our customers need to automate processes in hours and days, not months and years." And Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com, adds: "Companies transforming themselves into social enterprises want new ways to run their business… Infor joins Salesforce.com in recognising that these transformations must span across the entire company."
