InterfaceFLOR – the leading global modular flooring manufacturer, widely recognised as an environmental pioneer – has today (23 March) officially opened the doors to its latest manufacturing facility in Taicang, China.

The company, which has an award-winning UK facility in Halifax (pictured),said it had built the facility with sustainability in mind – refurbishing an existing structure, re-using salvaged materials from the local area and integrating features such as noise-absorbing glass, carbon absorbing bamboo, roof-top heat shields, rainwater collection and a ground source heat exchange system to minimize impact on the environment. The new plant employs 110 people from the area and will supply modular carpet products made of high recycled content – specifically for the greater China market. "In opening our new facility, we are building upon nearly four decades of experience to create a unique place in the Chinese flooring landscape where high-quality products and cutting- edge design are available," said Dan Hendrix, president and CEO of Interface, Inc. InterfaceFLOR said it would concentrate on manufacturing breakthrough carpet tile products for education, healthcare, hospitality, office and leisure markets from the Taicang plant which houses manufacturing equipment and technology in-line with the same high performance and environmental standards of its other manufacturing facilities worldwide.
