Intermec launches combination mobile factory system

A combination mobile system that encompasses time and attendance, WIP (work in progress) monitoring and warehouse automation will cut cost of ownership and spread adoption, according to developer Intermec.

Stuart Scott, senior director of international marketing at Intermec, says its CV30 is about streamlining operations and reducing the IT maintenance requirement by standardisation on a single platform. “Only 25% of the cost of mobile computing today relates to the hardware,” says Scott. “The rest is management of the systems. This range is very flexible for manufacturing applications. For example, it has a range of mounting options and it supports Bluetooth for wireless printing on a forklift or bench.” Beyond that, the new system uses Intel processing and Microsoft Windows Mobile 5, so it’s open, standard and well equipped for connectivity.
