Following a seven-way pitch, Reading-based services, maintenance and building group Interserve has been awarded a contract with Toyota Manufacturing UK to provide a range of industrial cleaning services to its engine plant in Deeside, North Wales (pictured). The contract will cover the factory, the offices and amenity areas and has been agreed for an initial two year period, with a view to extend for a further year. Following a tender process that began in October 2007, and initially involving seven bidders, Interserve took responsibility for the Industrial Shop Cleaning Service, covering critical process plant, office, amenity and welfare facilities as well as hygiene services and consumable supply. As part of the new contract, around 16 employees currently working on the industrial cleaning work at the plant will be transferred to the employment of Interserve under TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings - Protection of Employment) regulations. Speaking of the contract win, Dave Troth, Operations Director at Interserve, said: “The Toyota plant at Deeside is of great importance to the local community and substantial investment at the plant has recently been announced. It is therefore a great privilege to become a part of this and extend our relationship with Toyota. Interserve will look to work closely with Toyota in an innovative and proactive manner, embracing their Kaizen working methodology. ”
