Jaguar Cars’ UK site at Halewood is set to benefit from a new ‘Auto-ID’ maintenance agreement with Bromsgrove-based scanner, hand-held readers and RFID equipment supplier, DataScan Systems.
The contract covers Jaguar’s fixed position bar code scanner and a variety of hand held bar code readers as used on the Jaguar X-type range. The Halewood factory uses two barcodes on the X-type from initial issue of the car’s unique VIN number, to finished production, enabling tracking of the car on its journey through the plant to completion.
Every piece of DataScan equipment is labelled with a Scan-Care contract number and held within a ‘hotline’ database. So by taking the company’s Scan-Care cover, Jaguar will benefit from one point of contact, dealing with the same account manager who originally provided the equipment. And there’s just one annual fee to pay for the service.
