Japanese automotive die development goes under Dassualt

CAD/CAM/PLM (product lifecycle management) software specifically for automotive OEM and Tier One suppliers’ end-to-end die development processes, is to be built by Japanese specialist Nihon Unisys on Dassault Systemes V5 CAD platform following signing of an alliance between the two. Nihon Unisys says it will also provide services around Dassault’s 3D PLM, so that users can link product design to manufacturing optimisation in a collaborative web environment. The firm claims users will dramatically extend their capability to develop and produce die tools and processes. Hideo Saiki, IT manager at Yamaha Motor Company’s Systems Solution Group, says: “We welcome this combination of Western software platform development technology with Japanese application development technology.” Dassault software is already core for 22 of the top 30 global automotive manufacturers, and is a de facto standard in automotive manufacturing. It enables users to capture, share and reuse information across their global manufacturing environments and their supplier networks.
