Gift company Jellycat has automated its US business operations following IT integration by Balloon One, which linked the firm's SAP Business One ERP system and Accellos WMS (warehouse management system) and its US trading partners.
According to Danny Olive, finance director at Jellycat, the firm is now experiencing strong growth, despite the current economic challenges.
Moreover, he says it is handling a substantial increase in orders, without expanding its overheads, because most of its order administration has now been automated.
"One of the key objectives for the integration project was to reduce manual data entry to a minimum," states Olive.
"With more than 100 independent sales reps serving North American stores and sending in orders by various means, the business creates a colossal amount of information to enter into our systems manually," he explains.
"Balloon One was able to provide a good integration solution for the majority of the reps, using a web-based system from Brandwise."
Jellycat's Minneapolis office outsources warehousing, fulfilment and distribution to Distribution Alternatives, a third-party logistics provider. "Our DC receives EDI orders from our larger retail partners... [the system] enables these orders to go direct from the DC into SAP automatically.
"Thanks to the integration, we now import 60% of sales orders and 98% of sales invoices electronically, and we export 100% of shipment instructions to our warehouse directly through the system," states Olive.
