JLR won the Skills Innovation of the Year category and was presented with the award at a gala dinner in London's Park Plaza, Riverbank.
The company has introduced a programme to upskill people working in the supply chain and tackle a skills shortage in the industry.
Ian Eva, JLR's apprentice manager, said: "The most important element we as a business need is for our supply base to grow with us. There is a massive skills shortage in the UK so we needed to be bold and innovative, coming up with a programme to enable our supply chain to grow with us.
"The primary aim of this programme is to drive up their key performance indicators, whether it is the mean time to repair or their mean time between failures and in doing so they will provide better quality, on time at the right cost to us and the other car manufacturers."
Those taking part are skill assessed at the start of the programme and tested at the end, where on successful completion they get an opportunity to take further qualifications.
Ann Watson, CEO of Semta, said: "JLR's initiative is a brilliant partnership, providing world class training through a world class company in world class facilities. It is delivering skills for young people to the benefit of the wider supply chain and the UK economy as a whole. JLR is a very worthy winner of our Skills Innovation Award."
