Laser scanning links to plant design and verification

Plant engineering design consultancy Aveva is partnering with 3D laser surveying firms Mensi and Leica to extend its as-built engineering capabilities. Both will integrate their laser scanning technologies with Aveva’s plant design software, bringing improvements in the form of automatically captured plant information for engineering projects. The developments will enable the use of point cloud data, bringing existing plant data straight into Aveva’s PDMS design model, which can then be used for interference detection and design verification, supporting revamp and retrofit projects.
