The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Industry Forum says that only a few places remain on its latest 'Learn from the Best' trip to Japan. The Birmingham-based forum has arranged for a delegation of industrialists and engineers from all over the UK to visit some of Japan's top flight manufacturing companies.
The eight day visit, to be held on 7-15 May 2010, will focus on Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) – the Japanese system of continuous shopfloor and process improvement. The tour, which is now in its sixth year, has proved popular across the manufacturing spectrum, attracting delegates from the automotive, aerospace, pharmaceutical, food processing, white goods and other sectors.
"Japanese never stay still in business and all of the latest thinking in terms of lean manufacturing, quality, waste elimination, cost, efficiency and delivery originates in Japan" said Arthur David. "There's no better way than learning first hand from the best in the world."
In addition to detailed briefings by senior management at the Japanese plants, delegates will have the opportunity to hear from world-renowned Japanese experts on quality and TPM. The cost of the programme is £5,750 plus VAT.
