The seven members of staff undertook a 12-month government-backed training programme organised by Lead Training. As part of the course the team were assigned real time projects that saw them review current manufacturing processes, using the skills and techniques gained from their course, in order to identify areas of improvement.
Following the analysis, the team implemented their recommendations, which included a refurbishment of the workshop and its layout, and the standardisation of certain processes to deliver consistent operational efficiencies and a reduction in part cycle times.
Since the implementation of these steps, the business has seen significant improvements in its operational performance, as well as increased levels of customer satisfaction.
Explains participant Stuart White: “It was a great learning experience and one that allowed for learning on the job and seeing improvements on a daily basis”.
