Staff from Andover-based Stannah Lifts are celebrating completing the prestigious industry-recognised National Vocational Qualification for Business Improvement Techniques Level 2 qualifications for business improvement techniques.
The awards, says Stannah, are the result of a three-way effort by the company, the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing and VT Training. The eight staff members all received their certificates from Stannah managing director Alastair Stannah.
The NVQ in B-IT covers business practices, statutory law, health and safety, effective team working, work place organisation, visual management systems and problem solving. The aim is to help employees develop an even better understanding of their roles within manufacturing and to further improve quality and performance in a way that is measurable and continuous - bringing long term business benefits.
Keith Jones, who delivered the programme on behalf of VT Training, said: "What the learners from Stannah have achieved is the catalyst for the continuous development of what is done in their company. They have the opportunity to support others who will go on the course and to make contribution to the effective running of the business."
Alistair Stannah said the Skills Academy's BI-T NVQ was helping Stannah Lifts improve quality, cost and delivery performance. He went on: “What makes this different is that it is sustainable by providing our people with a simple and effective set of techniques to continuously improve processes. To receive their certificates our employees had to provide evidence of bringing their learning back into the work place to make a measurable impact. They walked away with a nationally-recognised qualification and helped to improve our business in the process."
