Lighting manufacturer brightens future with RFID tracking

Lithuanian-Swedish lighting manufacture Artilux NMF says it has improved its internal logistics chain by adopting RFID-technology.

The company is using UPM Raflatac's ShortDipole RFID tags to track around 25,000 pallet movements every year, and says they have resolved it warehouse difficulties. In Artilux's redefined logistics process, RFID tags are now embedded on each pallet at the production quality control point. The pallets are tracked and traced throughout the logistic process. RFID readers have been installed at each bypass gate, as pallets travel from production to storage and from storage to loading ramps for distribution. RFID controlling points automatically identify passing pallets. The system then determines if the pallet can move through the gates and informs warehouse operator by sending information to the control display.
