Lotus won the Goodwood Festival of Speed Downhill Soapbox Challenge last month in its Streamliner type 119c – weighing in at less than 50kg and developed using Catia. Brian Tinham reports

Lotus won the Goodwood Festival of Speed Downhill Soapbox Challenge last month in its Streamliner type 119c – weighing in at less than 50kg and developed using Catia. The craft featured an enclosed cockpit with a carbon fibre monocoque and Formula One titanium and tungsten materials. It achieved a course record of 63.998secs, reaching speeds of over 63mph down the Goodwood Hill, powered by nothing more than gravity. The Lotus team was sponsored by Delmia, also part of Dassault Systemes.
