The flagship annual event will once again bring together Britain’s leading government politicians, senior industrialists and manufacturing leaders in increasingly uncertain and difficult political times.
With the country’s future relationship with the European Union still uncertain, this year’s conference will look at how companies can prepare themselves to thrive in the post-Brexit landscape..
With a new government in place at Number 10, a number of high-profile speakers are being lined up, including journalist and broadcaster Andrew Neil and by popular demand the conference will be chaired once again by broadcaster Steph McGovern, herself a former engineer.
Again we will run a series of workshops throughout the conference day to help minimise potential risk going forward and show companies how to take advantage of the opportunities arising in the changing market.
Key themes for this year’s discussions include ‘Exports: Peer-to-Peer Trading’, where you will hear from a number of experts talking about how you can increase your exports and look to successfully spot emerging opportunities. Learn about businesses’ individual export journeys and how they managed to overcome the barriers to trade which lay in their path.
Workshop number two looks at productivity – ‘Small Steps for Big Results’. Here a range of leading experts will detail how the best performing manufacturers are increasingly using the latest digital technology to deliver efficiencies to the heart of their companies, while at the same time reducing working costs, increasing their margins and improving their lead times. The third workshop ‘Tackling the Talent Pipeline’ will examine the skills shortage and explore innovative ways of approaching the challenge head on. It will show how to successfully do more for less, upskilling your current workforce while also unlocking new talent from more unusual and perhaps currently untapped talent sources.
In addition we also have workshops hosted by UK Steel - Hollow Supply Chains: A Very British Problem, and NDI - Manufacturing and Defence: A Symbiotic Relationship.
