A window manufacturer has picked up a £5,000 fine after failing to tackle shoddy hygiene in its staff toilets and rest area.
TLC Glazing of Willow Lane Industrial Estate, Mitcham ignored two HSE improvement notices, a London court heard.
Inspectors gave the firm one month to clean up 'very dirty' toilets with 'no soap for hand washing' during a visit last May, the court was told.
However, no action had been taken when the inspectors returned in June.
TLC Glazing had also failed to act on recommendations on its rest area. The facility was poorly equipped and covered in dust and debris from an adjacent workshop, inspectors reported.
TLC Glazing was prosecuted by the HSE at the City of London Magistrates Court.
HSE inspector Clare Hawkes said: "The law requires employers to provide a minimum basic standard of clean and hygienic welfare facilities for workers. There's no excuse for not providing them.
"Failure to provide decent facilities or to comply with enforcement notices are serious matters. TLC Glazing showed complete disregard for the welfare of its employees and for the law."
