Mazda improves production efficiency with digital manufacturing simulation
Mazda Motor Corp says it has achieved “significant improvements” in production efficiency at its Hofu plant due to the use of UGS’ Tecnomatix manufacturing simulation systems.
The company had been using the Tecnomatix manufacturing simulation and planning tools in its production technology area, but expanded its use to the manufacturing site itself.
Mazda says the software helped it to link production control systems with production management, resulting in better optimised performance. It claims results so far have included reduced inventory, reduced labour costs, better safety in the workplace and more reliable production instructions.
