Microsoft and Bearing Point launch risk-based compliance solution

Microsoft and BearingPoint, one of the world’s largest consulting firms, have launched a risk-based compliance solution designed to help manufacturers identify risk, handle control deficiencies, and strengthen compliance.

The BearingPoint Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance (EGRC) solution is based on Microsoft technology – primarily Office SharePoint Server 2007– and builds on the companies’ long-standing alliance. JR Reagan, vice president and managing director of Global Risk, Compliance and Security at BearingPoint, explains that it provides tools to help organisations manage risk and compliance through alerts and analytics and action audit trails. “In so many organisations, compliance and risk management are treated as silos of responsibility, supported by costly, reactive point solutions,” he observes. “By merging our experience in risk and compliance management with Microsoft’s People-Ready technology, we are delivering a powerful, compelling and cost-effective solution for clients worldwide.” Although developed initially for the public sector, the solution is now being offered to companies in the pharmaceuticals and energy industries, with Brian Scott, vice president of Worldwide Industries at Microsoft, making the point that organisations, in particular, need to improve on the picture of multiple isolated systems when it comes to regulatory compliance.
