A British manufacturer of loading bay and handling systems is celebrating the installation of its 250th mezzanine goods lift. Harworth, South Yorks-based Transdek has supplied the lift to Black Hole Storage of Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Black Hole Storage already had one of the lifts but due to increasing demand, the company has opened a second facility and ordered another lift from Transdek.
"From our initial enquiry through to the installation of both lifts, Transdek kept to deadlines and offered us all of the information we needed," says Leon Antone, owner of Black Hole Storage.
The lifts are becoming increasingly popular for moving products between floors in warehouses or factories. They are surface mounted, so there is no requirement for pits or civil works, and installation typically takes a day or two.
Transdesk has recently added heavy-duty electrical interlocks to the lift gates and has redesigned the platform to give greater strength, without adding weight or depth. The R&D team is also working on a weight sensing capability for its mezzanine floor lifts.
The manufacturer says more than 50% of its mezzanine floor lift sales are repeat orders. "We are obviously proud that, having worked hard to develop a quality product with a high level of safety features, our customers are clearly happy with the end result," says Dean Butler, engineering manager.
