Molins Tobacco Machinery in Saunderton, which designs and manufactures equipment for the industry, is replacing its Oracle software with IFS Applications. The deal is worth £600,000 and is to provide an integrated supply chain and financial suite. Implementation is scheduled for completion by the autumn of 2004, with additional manufacturing components due after that date. Nick West, Molins’ finance director, says: “Molins Tobacco Machinery has shifted its focus from manufacturing to supply chain and logistics. With 14,000 discrete parts in its flagship product, there is enormous pressure to bring components together within an agreed timeframe. Molins wanted a supplier to help address that challenge and also to reduce costs.” IFS was selected from a shortlist of four suppliers. “IFS came top for functionality, service and support. We were particularly attracted to its project management capabilities. “We deal with very high value products with a two to three year timeframe from sales enquiry to expiration of warranty. As such we are a very project oriented business.”
